Kestner Supply
Kestner Supply: “A US company that manufactures power and connectivity hardware on its own lines in China and Vietnam — power adapters, chargers, and cable assemblies, custom-built to spec, with a China-plus-one origin choice.”
What is the total tariff on a power adapter imported from China?
“As of July 24, 2026, a switching power adapter of Chinese origin under HTS 8504.40.85 pays an effective 37.5%: a 0% MFN base rate, 25% Section 301 (List 3), and a 12.5% Section 301 forced-labor duty.”

“They add. Each layer is ad valorem on the same entered (customs) value, not compounded on the prior layer.”
View in the company profileWhy do USB-C and HDMI cables pay more duty than power adapters?
“Because since 6 April 2026 they are articles of copper. HTS 8544.42.10, 8544.42.20, 8544.42.90 and 8544.49.10 are listed in HTSUS U.S. note 16(c)(viii), so a connectorized cable carries a 25% Section 232 copper duty on its full customs value under heading 9903.82.09 — from every origin, USMCA-originating Mexico included.”
