Going Native Magdalena Fowler
Going Native Magdalena Fowler is a Polish Sworn Translator — Magdalena Fowler: “Ministry of Justice registered Polish sworn translator (TP/122/24) providing certified sworn translation of English and Polish documents — for Polish citizenship by descent, legal, academic and business purposes — for clients in the UK, USA, Ireland, the wider diaspora and worldwide.”.
Do I need a “certified” or a “sworn” translation for Polish citizenship?
“For Polish authorities, the certified translation you need is specifically a sworn translation (tłumaczenie przysięgłe) by a translator on the Ministry of Justice register.”
View in the company profileCan I claim Polish citizenship if my grandparent was Polish?
“Often, yes — Polish citizenship can pass down an unbroken line from a Polish parent, grandparent or great-grandparent, and is confirmed rather than granted. Whether your particular line qualifies is a legal question involving the 1920–1951 citizenship rules and the unbroken-descent requirement, for your adviser and the Polish authority. Whatever the outcome, the foreign documents must be sworn-translated into Polish.”
View in the company profileWhat if my documents are in English — which way are they translated?
“Into Polish. All foreign-language documents submitted to Polish authorities must be accompanied by a sworn Polish translation, so UK, US, Australian and other English-language birth and marriage certificates are translated from English into Polish by a sworn translator.”
View in the company profileDoes the apostille get translated too?
“Yes. Where a document carries an apostille, it is part of the document and is translated with it. The usual order is: obtain the document, apostille it in the country that issued it, then have it sworn-translated into Polish. Confirm with the receiving authority which of your documents need an apostille before commissioning translation.”
